Convert to DVCPROHD codec by

|
|
With regard to the compatibility with the
most popular Apple FCP, AVCHD codec should be converted to
Apple Intermediate codes or ProRes422.
When converted to Apple Intermediate codec,
the picture quality will be deteriorated
significantly due to multiple decode/re-encode processes.
While converted to ProRes422, the picture
quality may be maintained. But, due to its compression
format,
the file size will be increased about 7 times
and it will take so much time to be transcoded.
On the other hand, Avid Media Composer has
not supported AVCHD codec yet.
To ingest files to Media Composer, AVCHD should be converted
to DVCPROHD by the optional Main Concept plug-in. |

Data continuity over maximum file size |
Continuous |
Few frames data drop
between files |
|
Adobe Premiere and Canopus Edius are
supporting the native AVCHD codec.
With these NLE system, first file and next
file recorded by GY-HM100 are continuous even after
automatic separation. (Automatic file separation is due to
the specifications of file system (FAT) for both GY-HM100
and AG-HMC150)
But, few frames might be dropped between
files recorded by AG-HMC150.
Therefore, continuous recording without pause
over the maximum file size for AG-HMC150 is useless even
with these NLE system supporting AVCHD codec natively

While both cameras employee the same spatial offset
technology,
AG-HMC150 resolution is significantly decreased due to
less pixels (960x540 pixels) count.
GY-HM100 looks more crisp even with smaller chip set. |

SD card can be used for AG-HMC150. But, the maximum recording
time by SD card is very limited (about 22 minutes for 2GB card at 21Mbps) due to
the card file capacity (up to 2GB).
One card slot limitation for AG-HMC150 will worry camera
operators about the replacement timing of cards. But, GY-HM100 is affordable for
the replacement, being able to hot-swap out the first card while still shooting
to the second.
