Panasonic today announced pricing and
availability for its new AW-HS50, a powerful, sub-compact switcher for mobile
production, AV facilities, and event video. At a suggested RRP of only 3.400€,
this 10-bit HD/SD switcher offers four HD/SD-SDI inputs and one HD DVI-D input,
as well as a built-in MultiViewer, Chroma Keyer, Aux Bus, and 1080/29.94PsF
support. The half-rack width switcher measures only 8 ¼” x 2-5/8” x 6-15/16” –
about half the size of a standard piece of stationery – and weighs just over
four pounds. The HS50’s built-in MultiViewer allows users to see four, nine, or
10 images on a single display via a high-resolution output—significantly
reducing the cost, size, and weight of a new HD production system. The
adjustable MultiViewer outputs can also be used to provide a multi-image
large-screen presentation display. Other advanced functions include dedicated
hardware for picture-in-picture (PinP), switchable upconversion, a chroma/linear
keyer plus a downstream keyer (DSK), auto or manual video transitions, and frame
memories. As a component in Panasonic’s first complete Internet Protocol (IP)
production system, the HS50 provides IP links to the new AW-RP50 remote camera
controller, enabling automatic selection of the currently controlled P/T/Z
camera video on the switcher’s AUX bus. The switcher has built-in, switchable
10-bit frame synchronizers on each input, ensuring reliable, glitch-free
switching even with non-synchronous sources such as remote camera feeds, small
camcorders, and computer graphics. The HS50 has four HD/SD-SDI inputs and one HD
DVI-D input, two HD/SD-SDI outputs and one scalable DVI-D output. Additional
standard features include camera tally outputs, an on-screen display (OSD) for
viewing switcher settings, GPI input, an Ethernet control interface for
connection to a network, and an AUX Bus for a versatile production workflow. The
HS50 switcher is designed to provide economical 10-bit, 4:2:2 HD or SD live
switching, and supports the most common worldwide production formats, including
1080/59.94i, 1080/23.98PsF, 1080/24PsF, and 720/59.94p. The AW-HS50 will be
available in Europe this summer. |
